Model Overview:

The 1964 Holden EH stands as an Iconic symbol of Australian automotive heritage.

The EH Special Wagon captivates with its edgy design, featuring clean, straight lines with wonderful curved windscreen and roof top and a distinctively shaped grille that harks back to an era of 1950’s & 60’s automotive elegance. With such a classic shape and an unmistakable silhouette, the EH Wagon embodies an era of style and practicality used by many an Aussie family over the years and as a favorite with surfers around the coast.

The EH was a true milestone Model in the history of General Motors Holden. The most prominent feature of the EH’s release was it featured the biggest mechanical update in Holdens history… a new engine! Lovingly known as the “Red Motor” this design carried itself all the way to 1980 in the VB Commodore, before being replaced.

The red motor in the EH (so-called as the blocks were all painted red) was available in two sizes, the 149ci or 179ci HP which had hydraulic valve lifters and seven-bearing crankshaft for quieter operation, more power and improved fuel economy. Other mechanical improvements for the EH release was recirculating ball steering, four-wheel hydraulic brakes and either three-speed column-change manual or Hydramatic automatic transmission.

This winning combination resonated with buyers, as Holden sold over 250,000 units in just eighteen months, earning the EH the title of the fastest-selling Australian car ever. An Aussie Icon and Legend was born.
