The Chevrolet Nova Sport Coupe has a long history in Australian Touring Car & Drag Racing circles, due to its Light Weight & more Compact design compared to the larger American cars of the era. A great looking car from the outset, it didn’t take long for the team at Chevrolet to shoehorn an angry Small Block V8 into the front end with some other performance upgrades, for the famed ‘SS’ Regular Production Option L79 model.
Australian Champion racer Norm Beechey imported a Chevrolet L79 V8 Nova example, to compete successfully in Australian Touring car racing against the likes of Pete Geoghegan’s almost invincible ’65 Ford Mustang. The Aussie Neptune racing’s Nova with Norm at the wheel won 36 Races between 1965 – 1968.
This particular Car is a 1965 Chevrolet Nova 11 400 V8 model with ‘SS’ tribute badging. Originally factory fitted with a 283 V8 and Poweglide 2 Speed Auto, it now features a Chevrolet 350 V8 together with a Turbo 350 Automatic Gearbox sending power to a 3.36 ratio 10 Bolt Differential. Presented with a striking period correct Red Bucket Seat interior in great condition, with console and roof lining matching.
The Air Conditioning is a Factory Chevrolet ordered item from new. The Cragar wheels suit this cars good looks with the paint bodywork in various areas looking for attention to bring this beauty back to former glory. All orginal service books and owners manuals supplied with car. Believed to be a 3 owner car.
Running a mild Chevrolet 350 V8, mated to a Turbo 350 Automatic for easy cruising. Standard V8 model Brakes and Differential as fitted when new. All mechanicals have been serviced over the ownership by the current vendor and is ready to enjoy.
Standard Body in Factory white with tribute SS L79 Badging. This car is ready to drive and enjoy with it’s patina personality or repaint for show duty.
Featuring a stand out Red Bucket Seat interior, presented in very good condition. Seating, door cards, roof lining, carpets and dash all in good condition. Factory Air Conditioning is fitted ( Rare Chevrolet unit ) and is said to be working well.
