The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS marked the debut of Chevrolet’s now-legendary pony car, introducing a sleeker, more refined alternative to Ford’s Mustang with unmistakable late-’60s styling. The RS (Rally Sport) package was distinguished by its iconic vacuum-operated hideaway headlamps, revised grille, bright exterior trim accents, unique tail-lights and RS badging. Buyers could option the RS package across a wide range of engines—from the smooth 327 small-block to the big-block 396—making it as much about style as performance. Inside, the first-year Camaro offered a sporty, driver-focused cockpit with deep-set gauges and bucket seats, while the chassis featured crisp handling for the era thanks to its short-wheelbase F-body platform. As the very first RS model in Camaro history, the ’67 stands as a highly collectible and culturally significant American classic.
This genuine 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS is a tough, stand out, restored and well-sorted first-generation example, combining genuine factory credentials with an upgraded, high-quality performance build.
A factory 3L RS ‘Rally Sport’, with factory air-conditioned, factory 4-speed manual, it carries all the key indicators collectors seek.
The car has been restored to a very high standard, with a stunning custom paintwork together with hood cowl and rear spoiler, a fully renewed interior, upgraded suspension and brakes, sub-frame connectors, strong engine build, a full MSD ignition system and a properly sorted driveline.
This Camaro presents with exceptional visual appeal, strong mechanical capability, clean workmanship throughout, and the kind of tough stance that makes a first-gen RS so desirable. This is an impressive turnkey example.
Power comes from a strong GM Crate 350ci V8, retaining its desirable 4-bolt main block and strengthened with performance internals including forged pistons, a steel crank and a performance camshaft. The block has been bored .030” over and built to an easy 400hp + specification, giving it exceptional bottom-end strength and the durability to handle additional power.
Breathing is significantly improved by Dart steel heads with 2.02 valves and stainless-steel valve gear, while induction is managed by a Holley 750 carburettor on an Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap intake, delivering crisp throttle response and strong airflow.
A complete MSD 6-AL ignition system—including MSD box, distributor and wiring—ensures a hotter, more consistent spark and sharper drivability.
The engine is paired with a rebuilt Muncie M-20 four-speed manual fitted with a Hurst shifter for the direct, mechanical shift feel that defines a proper first-generation Camaro. Power is delivered through a 12-bolt Chevrolet rear end equipped with an Eaton 3.55 Posi-Traction centre, providing strong acceleration and relaxed highway manners.
Suspension has been completely renewed with lowered front coil springs, multi-leaf rear springs, KYB gas shocks, and polyurethane bushings, all contributing to improved stability and a more confident road feel. Sub-frame connectors further stiffen the chassis, enhancing both handling and structural integrity.
Big-brake performance is provided by Baer slotted 13-inch front discs paired with a power steering rack, stainless-steel brake lines and a Be-Cool aluminium radiator with dual electric fans, ensuring reliable cooling in all conditions.
A full Flowmaster exhaust system with H-pipe completes the package, producing the deep, crisp and unmistakably authentic small-block soundtrack enthusiasts expect.
The exterior presents exceptionally well, finished in stunning custom Steel Metallic Grey with black rally stripes that display outstanding depth, clarity and a high-quality gloss. A 2-inch steel cowl bonnet and matching rear spoiler add a tougher, more purposeful stance while keeping car’s classic lines.
The Camaro retains its unmistakable RS identity with hideaway headlights, crisp body contours and clean chrome trim, while a set of 17-inch Billet Specialties wheels completes the look, giving the car a premium muscle-car presence without compromising its authentic Rally Sport style.
The interior has been previously completely renewed with restored factory appointments throughout. The cabin benefits from Dynamat insulation, improving cabin refinement and reducing heat and noise. A set of Auto Meter gauges including large Tacho, provides modern accuracy while blending cleanly into the cockpit.
Comfort is enhanced with a modern Vintage Air A/C system, making the car far more enjoyable in Australian conditions.
Additional enhancements include a Painless complete wiring harness for electrical reliability, an Alpine stereo/CD system and an Optimum battery neatly fitted in the boot.
The result is a tidy interior that maintains the Camaro’s period charm while offering improved gauges and usability.
A high-quality 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS combining excellent factory provenance with a strong, fully upgraded mechanical package and premium restoration quality. Featuring a fortified 350ci V8 with performance internals, Dart 2.02 heads, MSD ignition, Holley/Edelbrock induction, rebuilt Muncie M-20 4-speed, Eaton 3.55 Posi-Traction rear, Flowmaster exhaust, Baer disc brakes, upgraded suspension, sub-frame connectors, Vintage Air conditioning and stunning custom paint, this Camaro delivers toughness, drivability and show-level presentation in equal measure.
A standout Rally Sport — powerful, beautifully restored, mechanically sorted and ready for an enthusiast who wants a serious first-gen RS Camaro with the right upgrades.
