The Porsche 911 Targa.

The Porsche 911 ‘Targa’ has a rich history that dates back to its introduction in 1965. The Targa model itself was named after the Targa Florio race in Sicily, where Porsche had numerous race wins in the 1960s.

The first model of the 911 Targa, which debuted in 1965 featured a removable soft rear window and a foldable, zippered plastic rear roof which is a highly sought after on the international collector market. This Targa design evolved over the years, with updates to the roof mechanism and materials with the current day 911 Targa 4 GTS being a highly desirable vehicle.

Auction Vehicle:

This original RHD 911 Targa is a UK delivered C16 code car, which arrived in Australia in the mid 1980’s to live a better life. Supplied with a large file of receipts for mechanical servicing including major Engine refurbishment, complete Gearbox rebuild and a new Ignition system, this solid 911 is ready to simply enjoy.

Mechanical:

Powered by its refreshed 3.0-liter 180HP flat-six engine and 5 Speed 915 gearbox, this model is known for its reliability and performance.

Enhancements to this Porsche 911’s mechanicals include several significant rebuilds and upgrades. Recently, the car has a new fuel pump, reconditioned K-Jet fuel distributor and throttle body, expertly refurbished by K-Jet specialists, along with a refurbished alternator, new injectors and a completely new ignition system installed.

Both the front and rear Bilstein shocks have been upgraded and all sway bar bushes have been refreshed. Additionally, the vehicle benefits from reconditioned drive shafts and CV boots. All four wheel bearings have also been replaced along with regular and up to date servicing.

In 2000, the Gearbox received a Complete Rebuild, and the Engine was fully stripped down for a Major Overhaul. This engine overhaul included reconditioned heads, new head bolts, all new bearings and seals, along with a 930 hydraulic tensioner conversion and a performance camshaft fitted. A new clutch kit and a sports exhaust were also fitted at that time, ensuring optimal performance and durability.

This car has driven less than 30k since that time. The car comes with extensive service records from both the previous and current owners.

A Momo Prototipo Steering wheel and genuine Porsche 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels are fitted with Dunlop Direzza tyres for pure driving enjoyment.

Body:

Presented in Porsche Dark Blue (dunkelblau) and features Porsche’s iconic ‘whale tail’ rear spoiler. Straight panels with various stone chips presented. Lived as a NSW country car with the current owner, where he believes the stone chips have mostly occurred on his own gravel driveway. Targa roof shows no rips or tears in its leather and is said to not leak. Not a show car, but presents well.

Interior:

Classic Porsche 911 interior in quality Black Leather. All standard features of this Performance classic is retained with the addition of an Upgraded Momo Prototipo Steering Wheel, Performance Shift Lever and Continental Bluetooth Radio fitment. Dash Gauges in excellent clean condition with a recent new sender unit fitted.  Electric windows were optioned as new from Porsche Factory.

History & Maintenance:

Large File of Receipts showing the mechanicals are strong all-round, from Engine, Gearbox to Suspension all renewed. *Odometer readings indicated & not verified.

Summary:

A solid drivers car featuring a strong Mechanical Package with a list of Receipts for work conducted. Paint correction regarding the stone chips may well be conducted by the next Owner.

An excellent 911 for the Air Cooled lovers amongst us. All the mechanical work is up to date and drives very well.

If the Reserve Price is not met, only the highest bidder has first right to negotiate any purchase.

 

Transport:

Fully Enclosed Transport is easily arranged for interstate buyers, throughout Australia. Buyer is responsible for cost.

Odometer readings can be incorrect & are unverified. We Highly advise to inspect any Vehicle before bidding, as Items are sold as is, without cooling off period under Victorian LMCT Auction Guidelines. GST will not be added to, or included in, the final bid price of this item. GST is included in the buyers premium. All Vehicles are sold unregistered unless otherwise stated. All cars have a clear PPSR and are sold without finance owing or on the Written Off Vehicle Register.
