Model Overview:

Powered by a rear-mounted 2.85-liter PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) V6 engine & paired with either a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. The suspension features a modern four-wheel independent design along with four-wheel Disc Brakes.

Designed by famed Giorgetto Giugiaro, its unique brushed metal finish without paint, made it a standout. It’s futuristic design helped it gain household fame as the ‘time machine’ in the Back to the Future film series.

With John DeLorean’s colorful past and fantastic backstory, the DeLorean DMC-12 remains a beloved piece of automotive history.

Mechanical:

This DeLorean DMC-12 is powered by a rear-mounted, naturally aspirated 2.85-liter V6 PRV engine, developed in collaboration between Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo. The 5-speed gearbox offers a classic gated shift pattern, giving drivers more sporting control while sending power to the rear wheels.

The suspension is four wheel independent and features a double-wishbone setup at the front with coil springs and telescopic shocks, while the rear uses a multi-link suspension with coil springs and anti-roll bars. Rack & Pinion steering is light and sports orientated.

The braking system is by power assisted four-wheel Disc brakes with 10-inch front and 10.5-inch back ventilated rotors, providing solid stopping power for the car’s weight.

Air Conditioning is factory fitted to keep things cool, even when travelling above 88MPH.

All components remain factory original, including the tyres from 1982.

Body:

The DeLorean DMC-12 body is instantly recognizable for its sleek, brushed stainless steel exterior and iconic gullwing doors.

Designed by Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, the car’s wedge-shaped silhouette and clean lines reflect a futuristic, minimalist aesthetic that was groundbreaking in the early 1980s. The stainless steel body panels are non-structural and rest on a fiberglass underbody, which is mounted to a steel backbone chassis.

The gullwing doors, which open upward on gas struts, add to the car’s dramatic presence but necessitated innovative engineering with a torsion bar system to keep the doors lightweight.

The DMC-12’s appearance has earned it a lasting place as one of the most distinctive automotive designs of its time.

Interior:

The DeLorean DMC-12 interior reflects the car’s unique, futuristic appeal with a clean, driver-focused layout featuring leather-upholstered seats, door panels, and dashboard in Space Grey. The low-slung seating position enhances the exotic feel of its cockpit

The dashboard is straightforward with a full cluster of sports analog gauges, including a prominent speedometer and tachometer, as well as all essential controls within easy reach of the driver. Factory features include air conditioning, a cassette stereo system and power windows.

The deep, sloping windshield and angled side windows enhance visibility, while the gullwing doors create an unmistakable entry and exit experience, drawing even more attention to the car’s futuristic, almost spaceship-like cockpit.

All interior components remain factory original. Inside of Glove Box is signed by Christopher Lloyd – “Doc”

History & Maintenance:

Supplied with all all DeLorean new car Books, Papers and Owner Registrations from New.

Floor mats still in plastic wrapper and DMC Car Care kit is complete.

Has been kept as a loved collector car near its whole life, with only 13,750 miles ever driven.

Stored by the current Owner in his Car Collection without driving, since purchasing and importing this vehicle in 2007.

All Vehicles must be collected within 7 days of the Auction Close.

How to Bid:

• Register & become a Verified Bidder.
• Bids must be at least $250 higher than the current bid. You may enter a higher bid at any time
• When placing a Bid, do not use a ‘comma mark’. ( Example $10000 equals $10,000 )
• If Reserve Price is Met, a yellow banner will say “Reserve Met” on the Lot Auction Page.
• Auction will extend by another 2 Minutes, if a bid is placed within 2 minutes of Auction End.

*If the Reserve Price is not met, only the highest bidder has first right to negotiate any purchase.

Transport:

Door to Door Fully Enclosed VIP Transport is arranged for interstate buyers, throughout Australia. Buyer is responsible for cost.
