2005 AC COBRA by RC SPORTSCARS - SOLD $75,250 + BP

MODEL OVERVIEW:

The AC Cobra, born from a collaboration between British manufacturer AC Cars and American racer Carroll Shelby in the early 1960s, is one of the most iconic sports cars ever built - combining a lightweight AC Ace chassis with brutish American V8 power. Originally produced in limited numbers from 1962 to 1967, genuine Cobras are now among the most valuable collector cars in the world, famed for their raw performance, muscular curves, and motorsport pedigree. Their legend has also inspired an entire industry of replicas and “continuation” cars, ranging from exacting recreations built to original specifications, using aluminium bodies and period-correct components, to more accessible fibreglass-bodied versions often fitted with modern drivetrains and safety features. While true AC Cobras command seven-figure prices and are closely documented by registries, high-quality replicas allow enthusiasts to experience the car’s visceral driving character and timeless design without the astronomical cost.

DRIVELINE

At its core is a potent Ford 347ci Windsor stroker V8, built around a Ford Performance Racing B347 crankshaft and fitted with Edelbrock Performer RPM alloy heads. Fuel delivery is handled via a Proflow billet 1375 CFM quad-throttle EFI system, supported by a Proflow fuel pump and Bosch Motorsport injectors, all managed by an Autronic SM4 ECU for precise tuning and drivability. Ignition is controlled by Performance Ignition Services, while cooling is comprehensively addressed with a large aluminium radiator, thermo fans and an external oil cooler, complemented by braided lines throughout. Exhaust exits through stainless tuned headers into a twin system exhaust, producing the unmistakable Cobra soundtrack. Power is delivered through a new Tremec T5 manual gearbox with short-shift, driving a fully independent suspension setup utilising Jaguar front and rear assemblies, supported by four-wheel disc brakes and adjustable coil-over shock absorbers — a well-balanced package offering modern handling to match the engine’s output.

EXTERIOR

Finished in deep gloss Black with painted Le Mans Silver stripes, the car presents with classic Cobra styling and strong visual presence. Panel fit and finish are of a high standard, with chrome and brightwork in excellent condition, including the signature chrome side pipes that enhance both appearance and sound. The stance is completed by deep-dish Halibrand-style wheels wrapped in Avon Racing radial tyres (295 rear / 245 front), delivering both period-correct aesthetics and confident road-holding capability.

INTERIOR

The cockpit is professionally trimmed in Cream leather, featuring Cobra insignias embossed into the headrests and a high level of finish throughout. Practicality is well considered, with large door pockets and a lined, lockable glovebox. Instrumentation is via a full suite of Auto Meter classic white-faced gauges, providing clear and functional driver information in keeping with the car’s performance intent. A high-quality soft top roof with side windows is included, enhancing usability for touring and variable conditions.

SUMMARY

This RC Sportscars Cobra represents a well-built and thoughtfully specified example, with significant investment in both drivetrain and presentation. Combining modern EFI reliability, strong performance credentials and timeless Cobra styling, it delivers an engaging and highly usable driving experience. Turn-key and ready to enjoy, it is equally suited to weekend drives, club use or show presentation — a standout example that offers the full Cobra experience without compromise.
