The car received engine starts throughout the years until the owner’s circumstance prevented further maintenance.

An Australian Icon:

Few vehicles embody the cultural heritage of Australian built collector cars quite like the Ford Falcon XY GT.

Being offered without reserve, this amazing 1970 Ford Falcon XY GT has been uncovered in remarkably well-preserved condition.

Last driven in 1973 and showing only 24,561 Miles on the odometer, this verified One Owner vehicle comes complete with mint condition service and owner’s manuals.

For more than five decades, this car has been dry stored in a garage, just blocks away from the Richmond Nylex Clock Tower.

This extraordinary Aussie shed find is now a rare opportunity to own.

A Journey Through History:

Purchased from Wright Ford Sydney, this brand new Falcon XY GT was driven on permit down the Hume Highway to Melbourne, by its now 88 year old owner (pictured) where it was first registered in Victoria as KTH 281.

This iconic car was enjoyed for nearly 3 years before being parked up 51 Years ago, as the owner had various drive cars at the time and work commitments took over. In the shed it stayed until now.

Presented in Factory Yellow Ochre paint and Black interior, this classic is further enhanced by dealer fitted Shelby parts, adding to its unique appeal.

This rediscovered Falcon GT stands as an exceptional example of Ford Australia’s golden era of Grand Touring cars, preserved in this condition.

Mechanical Time Capsule:

Beneath the legendary ‘Shaker’ induction lies the original matching numbers Cleveland 351 4V V8 ‘D’ Block engine, paired with its factory FMX automatic transmission.

Factory Power Steering, Dealer fitted Smiths Air-Conditioning and Shelby items along with the Rare Factory Sunroof, enhances its desirability.

The engine and mechanical systems are told to be preserved and started over the years, but all will require recommissioning of course.

This car is said to still retain its original windscreen, exhaust system and even its original front tyres from new—a testament to its largely untouched state.

Patina and Originality:

The car’s body and its original Yellow Ochre paint are quite well-preserved, despite years of sitting in a shed under layers of dust. It features a naturally aged patina with the expected imperfections of time, adding to its character.

Due to length of storage, other flaws are present such as storage dents, missing wipers, hubcaps, rear spoiler, a wheel arch trim, minor interior pieces, grille frame components and possibly other minor items not noted.

However, the sale includes genuine Ford items from the vehicle not attached, including original grille inserts, original GT driving lights, headlight surrounds, original GT grille badge, original GT fuel filler cap, original boot mat, original spare wheel with worn original tyre, a new XY GT side mirror in its FoMoCo box, and an original Shelby badge, along with assorted non-genuine items found with the car.

Grand Touring Interior:

Inside, the Falcon’s Black GT interior has been preserved in seemingly remarkable condition.

All original materials including the seats, door trims, headlining, console and carpets, remain in amazing condition and are a great example of Ford’s GT craftsmanship from the era.

Dashboard and Gauges are presented in fantastic condition without the ageing of sun damage.

The 8 Track Tape Player is presented like new. The Automatic shifter handle is a Dealer fitted Shelby item.

These rare qualities further highlight the car’s collector appeal.

A Rare Opportunity:

“This car is an amazing find for Ford GT community & Australian car collectors,” said Daniel Lamprell, Managing Director of Chicane Auctions.

"The originality, low mileage, verified single ownership together with mint condition owners manuals, make this vehicle an exceptional example.

For any Ford GT enthusiast or collector of iconic Australian cars, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a FORD XY GT that has remained mostly untouched and unseen for over 50 years".

Inspected by respected XY GT specialist Frank Portelli - "They are only this original once".
