MODEL OVERVIEW:

The 1967 Ford Falcon XR marked a pivotal evolution in Ford Australia’s transition from utilitarian family sedan to genuine performance contender, introducing a sharper, more muscular design along with significant engineering improvements across the range. Built on a strengthened platform with revised suspension geometry, the XR delivered improved ride and handling, while offering a broader engine lineup that culminated in the now-legendary XR GT, powered by a 289 cubic-inch Windsor V8. This model cemented Ford’s performance credentials on the national stage, most notably through its dominant victory at the 1967 Bathurst 500, where drivers Harry Firth and Fred Gibson piloted an XR Falcon GT to first place and into Australian cultural history.

351 CLEVELAND V8 – C4 AUTO – 9" LSD – MODERN AIR-CONDITIONING - CLASSIC AUSSIE CRUISER

An icon of Australian motoring, the XR Falcon marked a defining shift in Ford Australia’s design and road presence — and this 1967 XR 500 captures that appeal with a well-sorted, highly usable package. Finished in its factory Code 0 'Sage Gold', it presents with timeless style and an understated sleeper character, offering far more performance than its appearance suggests. With its distinctive chrome grille, sculpted tail light design and balanced proportions, the XR remains one of the most admired early Falcons, and this example delivers that classic appeal with thoughtful upgrades and honest presentation.

DRIVELINE

Power is delivered by a mild 351ci Cleveland V8, providing strong, reliable performance with the unmistakable tone and torque of Ford’s legendary V8 platform. The engine is paired with a C4 automatic transmission, offering smooth and dependable drivability, while power is transferred through a Ford 9-inch rear end fitted with a Truetrac limited-slip differential and 31-spline axles for strength and traction. Suspension has all been renewed and slighly lowered from factory setting with Koni shock absorbers all-round. Extractors and new twin exhaust system enable the Cleveland V8 breath correctly. Additional enhancements include electronic ignition for improved reliability and modern air conditioning, significantly increasing comfort and usability. Mechanically, the car is described as being in excellent condition along with its engine bay presentation, with all suspension and running gear renewed and well sorted for care free driving.

EXTERIOR

Finished in its nicely presented factory Sage Gold paintwork, now approximately 30 years old it is showing some age-related imperfections consistent with its character. The body presents straight and well aligned with straight gaps all-round. The overall presentation remains very strong and highly presentable, with excellent chrome Grille, bumpers and trim throughout, highlighting the XR’s signature styling elements with even some extra badging and bumper over-riders fitted. The car sits on 5-slot wheels with GT trims, giving it a tougher, period-correct stance, while a set of XR Fairmont hubcaps is also included, offering flexibility in presentation.

INTERIOR

Inside, the cabin is very well presented, with the dashboard and instrumentation in particularly impressive condition. The interior retains its original style and character, delivering a clean, functional and comfortable environment that complements the car’s classic appeal and usability. Aussie lambswool fitted seat covers look and feel the part along with other tasteful fitted features like the Fairmont clock.
