All cars are on display and are available for inspection in our Melbourne Showroom, by appointment.

Every vehicle offered through Chicane Auctions is carefully selected and professionally presented, with a strong focus on provenance, originality, condition, performance upgrades and restoration integrity. HOW TO REGISTER

Click the REGISTER button at the top right of the page and complete all required details. Your 'Username' will appear publicly as your bidding nickname. All registration details are required to bid. Once registration is complete, you will receive an email confirmation. Click the 'link' on the email, we sent to you. Bidder Approval is required before you can place bids.

BIDDER APPROVAL

For bidder approval, visit your Account Dashboard and select 'Payment Method' to securely enter your bank card details for verification. This step is required to activate your bidding account. Bidding is free, and no funds are taken unless you are the successful highest bidder. If you win an auction, the 8.8% buyer’s premium (incl. GST) will be charged to your bank card as a deposit.

PLACE A BID

Place bids without comma mark. Example: $10000 instead of $10,000. You can place a higher bid at any time before the timer runs out. NOTE: Your bid will be accepted and displayed at the amount you entered. There is no 'Autobid' as we run our Auctions 100% transparent. When the reserve price is met, a yellow banner will read "RESERVE MET." Inspect vehicles, ask questions, and be aware of the buyer's premium cost, as all bids are final. AUCTION WINNER

The Chicane team will send each Auction Winner an Invoice with all details for settling the Balance owing & taking delivery of your purchase. The 8.8% Buyers Premium will be subtracted from your supplied Bank Card details. All cars are to be picked up by their new owners within 7 Days unless otherwise agreed. Chicane will assist the Buyer throughout the entire process & assist with interstate transport or showroom hand-over! Please contact our office with any questions at any stage on (03) 9580 7369.

Showroom Inspections and Vehicle Viewing

All vehicles are available for full inspection by appointment at the Chicane Auctions Melbourne showroom, allowing buyers to personally assess condition, presentation and authenticity prior to bidding. All inspections are assisted by Chicane Auctions staff, ensuring any questions can be answered. Independent inspections or specialist assessments may also be arranged by appointment prior to the auction close.

If you are unable to inspect personally, we can conduct a WhatsApp video call inspection or phone discussion on request. Each auction listing is supported by detailed written descriptions and high-quality imagery and video to clearly present the vehicle’s specification, general condition and known history. Buyers are always encouraged to complete their own inspections and due diligence before participating in any auction.

Bidder Registration and Auction Participation

All bidders must complete bidder registration and approval prior to participating in a Chicane Auctions auction. Registration requires acceptance of Chicane Auctions’ Terms and Conditions. Once approved, bidders may participate in any live or online bidding during the auction period.

All details are kept securely by Stripe Financial Services, as used by Apple, Microsoft and Amazon. Stripe validates your Bank Card details & approves your details to enable bidding. This verification process protects the Buyer & Seller from fake bids. Bidding is completely free of charge.

Buyer’s Premium 8.8%

Chicane Auctions operates on a Buyers Premium fee structure. A Buyer’s Premium of 8.8 percent, including GST, is applied to the final hammer price, with no additional charges. Bidding is completely free of cost.

If you win an Auction, the Buyers Premium of 8.8% is then taken as deposit from your stored registration details. You will then be sent an Invoice for the balance of payment as below.

Payment and Settlement

Successful bidders will be issued with an invoice for the balance of the purchase price, following the conclusion of the auction. Full payment of the winning bid, together with the buyer’s premium, is required within five (5) days of the auction close.

Chicane Auctions provides a secure and fully managed payment and ownership transfer process through the use of its trust account, with an official receipt issued once cleared funds have been received.

All vehicles are treated as artwork and remain on secure, static display until collected by the new owner after payment has been made in full. Legal ownership of the vehicle transfers only upon receipt of cleared funds in full into the Chicane Auctions trust account.

Chicane Auctions - as a licensed LMCT and Auction House manages all auction paperwork, documentation and settlement administration to ensure a smooth and secure transaction for both buyers and sellers.

Chicane Auctions can assist buyers with vehicle transport arrangements Australia-wide, making interstate purchases simple and efficient.

We regularly work with trusted, specialist vehicle transport providers experienced in handling classic, performance and collectable vehicles, ensuring appropriate care from collection through to delivery. Transport can be arranged from our Melbourne showroom to metropolitan and regional locations across all Australian states, with options tailored to the vehicle type and buyer requirements.

While transport costs are the responsibility of the buyer, Chicane Auctions is pleased to coordinate introductions and assistance to help ensure a smooth, secure and professional delivery process following settlement.

Each vehicle undergoes a Government Personal Properties Security Register (PPSR) search prior to listing, confirming there are no recorded financial security interests and that the vehicle is not listed as stolen or written off.

This ensures buyer funds are securely held and managed in accordance with Australian auction requirements until settlement is fully completed. We offer fully transparent Auction listings with as accurate Descriptions as can be – approved by the Seller as true & correct. Traditional Bidding Features.

Bidding Increments are in minimum $250 steps. Bid a higher amount than $250 at anytime., NOTE WELL: What you bid, is what will be shown as their is no 'Autobid' feature, as we believe in open bid transparency. Auctions automatically extend by another 2 minutes, if a bid is made within the last minute. (called - Anti Snipping) This means you’ll never miss out on the Car by someone bidding at the last second.

Buyer's FAQ

What is the Reserve Price?

'Reserve Price' is set by the Vendor & is not disclosed until met. Once the price reaches the pre-set reserve, then a banner will show as "Reserve Met" & the car is 'On the Market'.

How much is the Buyers Premium cost?

Our Buyer's Premium Fee is 8.8% including GST in $AUD of the winning bid amount. Example: $50,000 Winning Bid + Buyers Premium 8.8% ($4,400) = $54,400 AUD Total Amount. The Auction winner is charged the Buyers Premium by stored Credit Card Details & it is separate to the Auction bid amount payable after the Auction.

Where do I see my Bids & Saved items?

Click on the DASHBOARD icon or Register button. You then need to click on the AUCTION tab. This shows all your bids & history.

How accurate are the Descriptions?

The Description is written by Chicane Auctions together with the Seller who ultimately "approves" the Description as correct. NOT ALL descriptions describe every item or condition of the car. It is carefully written after discussions, inspection and documents from the seller and other public sources. Whilst we try to cross-examine as much as possible, with the intention of being completely transparent with the description, PLEASE INSPECT THE VEHICLE ensuring you are happy with the vehicle’s description & condition before bidding.

Can I inspect a vehicle in-person myself?

Yes. We strongly advise inspecting the vehicle. All bids are final, so if you wish to inspect a vehicle, do it prior to bidding. Keep in mind that there is no such thing as a “post-auction pre-purchase inspection”. You are obligated to purchase the vehicle if you are the winning bidder. Due diligence is the responsibility of the buyer. Vehicles are offered as is, where is.

Can I have a pre-purchase inspection completed by a mechanic?

We highly encourage due diligence prior to bidding. If you want to have a vehicle inspected by a mechanic, please contact us to make arrangements. Note that this depends on availability, timing & Owners approval.
