Ford introduced the John Goss Special to honor the achievements of legendary Australian racing driver John Goss, who famously won the 1974 Bathurst 1000 behind the wheel of an Ford Falcon XA Coupe.

To celebrate, Ford released a limited edition JGS XB Coupe in 1974 and 1975, which quickly became a classic, thanks to its distinctive styling and direct connection to Australian motorsport.

John Goss also won the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1976 and Bathurst again in 1985 driving a V12 Jaguar XJ-S.
